Do I need previous singing or choir experience?
Not at all, if you have experience, all the better, but you will gain experience each week.

Is there an audition?
No, all abilities welcome, you will learn as you go along.

Do I need to be able to read music to join?
No musical experience is needed, just enthusiasm, you will pickup the skills as we progress.

What voice parts do you have, and how do I know which one I am?
Some songs will be split into the standard harmony parts of soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, our Musical Director can guide you into the appropriate section for your voice.

What kind of music do you sing?
We will be singing a wide range of styles, pop and rock, soul and gospel, and maybe even a little classical.

What ages can join the choir?
18+ We are here for adult singers and have no junior section.

When and where do rehearsals take place?
We meet on Tuesdays 7:30-9:30pm in Cottenham Community Centre during school term time. Please arrive between 7:00 and 7:30pm.

How much does it cost to join?
We will be running a terms at £6 per session, payment in advance.

What if I can’t attend every rehearsal?
Missing an occasional rehearsal is fine, but we cannot offer a refund for missed sessions as our costs are fixed regardless of who attends.

Are performances compulsory?
No, but half of the fun of being in a community choir is about showing the public just what we can all do when we make music together.

Is there a choir uniform?
There is no formal uniform, we might have a suggestion as to what we all might wear for upcoming concerts, but that will be decided ahead of any performance.

Is the choir accessible for people with disabilities or additional needs?
We aim to be an inclusive choir, our policies and constitution can be found here.

Is there a choir chat group?
Yes, we have a members’ WhatsApp community, you need to join the community, but the open chat area is optional.

Who runs the choir?
The choir is operated by an elected volunteer committee, which hires the Musical Director and accompanist and the rehearsal space. It is in charge of membership, website, social media, and other activities. We have a who’s who page.
