Welcome to FEV!

Fen Edge Voices community choir rehearses every Tuesday during term times from 7:30-9:30pm with a short break halfway through the session. Please email us with enquiries or to join our membership waiting list. We have some articles on the basics of musical notation, vocal range, voice health, and more in our musical resources section.

We rehearse in the back hall at Cottenham Community Centre, CB24 8RZ (opposite the Co-op). The hall is accessible and has toilets and baby-changing facilities, there are cycle racks outside, but there is no on-site parking. Please arrive from 7pm onwards.

Membership is charged in advance, on a per-term basis, and works out at just £6 per session. Email us if you have any questions or concerns about membership costs as we have some flexibility in our payment terms to allow us to be wholly inclusive.

Everyone is welcome, no audition needed, and no musical experience expected. We are learning most of our songs with piano accompaniment, supported with sheet music (password in your welcome email). We also have an item on the basics of musical notation for anyone new to reading music.

Members can join the FEV Community on WhatsApp, which has two sections: one for announcements from the MD and Committee and a separate chat area where everyone can post general discussion about choir, social events, and other matters.

We also have various articles on the website including one about finding your vocal range (how high and low you can sing), understanding musical intervals, and the choral volume control. There’s an expansing glossary of musical terminology covering words you might hear during rehearsal. The articles are aimed at those new to music and choral singing, but might also be of interest to those with some experience. Let us know if there’s anything you would like us to add to help you get the most out of choir and don’t be shy about asking questions in rehearsals, via email, or in the WhatsApp chat group.

Our Musical Director is Jasmine Habgood and piano accompaniment is from Rich Mandal.
